Convert any number up to one trillion into English words. Indian (lakh, crore) or International (million, billion) system. Cheque-friendly format.
A number-to-words converter spells out any number as English text in both the International numbering system (millions, billions, trillions) and the Indian numbering system (lakhs, crores). Essential for writing cheques, legal documents, contracts, and any context where numerical amounts must be unambiguous.
The Indian system uses thousand → lakh (100,000) → crore (10,000,000) → arab (1,000,000,000). The International system goes thousand → million → billion → trillion. The same numeric value reads as "12 crore 34 lakh" in Indian English or "123.4 million" in International English.
Inputs: Convert 1,250,000
The lakh/crore system has been used in South Asia for centuries and is built into both Hindi and the colonial-era English of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Indian newspapers, government documents, and official statistics all use it. Outside South Asia, the international million/billion system is standard. Bilingual contexts often quote both for clarity.
Write the amount in figures (₹12,500.00) AND in words ("Rupees Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Only"). The "Only" prevents the amount from being altered. If figures and words disagree, banks pay the amount in words. Always cross your cheque ("A/c Payee Only") if you do not want it transferable, and never sign a blank cheque.
